The coroner said they are investigating Greenville man's death as a homicide after he was found dead behind a Greenville home on Wednesday, the day after he was visiting the people who lived in the home.
Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis said Billy Patterson, 54, died from multiple force injuries.
Residents of a home on Third Street found Patterson unresponsive in their backyard, deputies said. They said a 911 caller tried to help him, but was unsuccessful.
Patterson went to the home the night before to visit with the people who lived there, Master Deputy Johnathan Smith said.
So far deputies have not released any other details about the investigation into Patterson's death.
Investigators ask anyone who may have information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
