COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man who died earlier this year was found to be contagious with tuberculosis at the time of his death, according to a Center of Disease Control (CDC) report on the outbreak.

The man's cause of death was listed as acute respiratory distress, according to the report.

The man, who died, was in a singing group with the janitor, who is believed to be at the center of the TB outbreak, according to the report. The report stated the two had contact as late as March when the janitor went to see the man in the hospital.

The report said the 79-year-old man had prior medical issues, but his health started declining late last year. The man had symptoms of weight loss, extreme fatigue and fevers worsened between December and early March of 2013, according to the report.

The report said the man was not discovered to have TB until after his death.

The CDC said they could not exclude the man as the source of the TB outbreak.
