BOILING SPRINGS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said investigators have arrested a home invasion suspect who is accused of assaulting the victim with a handgun by forcing it into his mouth and hitting him with it.

Deputies said Shannon Plumley forced his way into a home on Sugar Ridge Road in Boiling Springs around 3:30 p.m.

Deputies said the homeowner's son was forced at gunpoint into an outbuilding, where Plumley reportedly damaged items.

Deputies said the owner of the residence is dating Plumley's estranged wife and that Plumley was looking for the two.

Deputies said Plumley then forced the victim back into the home at gunpoint and left the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators were able to contact Plumley on the phone, and he met with officials at the sheriff's office.

Plumley is charged with first-degree burglary, kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery, malicious injury to personal property and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
