SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg City police said a homicide suspect was taken into custody on Saturday.

Capt. Art Littlejohn said Roderick Germaine Wynn, 43, is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Littlejohn said Wynn attacked Curtis Goldsmith outside the Money Tree at 584 N. Church St. on Aug. 14.

Police said Goldsmith suffered a head injury and later died at the hospital.

Littlejohn said police received an anonymous tip that a person matching Wynn's description was walking in the area of Cleveland Park.

Littlejohn said officers conducted an extensive search of the area and located Wynn inside a vacant house on Asheville Highway.

Wynn is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

NOTE: Littlejohn said investigators are waiting on the medical examiner's report for Goldsmith's exact cause of death to determine if other charges will be filed.
