Mom & Meteorologist

Posted: Updated:

I'm so excited to be starting my New-Mom Blog!  Since coming back to work after maternity leave, I've wanted to share my experiences as a new mom, and hear back from all of you out there who are raising kids!  The weather has been so crazy that it's taken a while for me to get this started, but from now on I plan to post weekly on different topics like sleep, colic, breast feeding, flying with baby,  balancing work and baby, etc.!

But first, an introduction!  For those of you who don't know, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Stella in mid April.  Many of you watched me grow and EXPAND on camera, and I appreciated your support through my pregnancy!  Then, once I had Stella, the outpouring of kindness, support and love from the community was truly unbelievable. So many of you have asked about Stella and sent me gifts, cards, etc.  She is now 4.5 months old and doing great!  Stella is our first child, so I've been figuring a lot of things out along the way!  She is holding her head up pretty well, laughing and occasionally rolling over!

So, I figured that I'd share some experiences and hopefully get some good discussions going on this blog!  Today I wanted to share a story that is fresh in my mind to get us started…

Stella is in daycare for part of the day, while her dad and I are both in work.  I drop her off in the afternoons and he picks her up.  Well, the drop off is DEFINITELY the hardest part.  I will say that she LOVES her teachers, and usually starts having fun with them the second we walk in.  Things were a little different today though. We walked in, and some of the other babies were fussy and crying.  This caused Stella to get a little fussy, then she started to cry.  The teachers were helping console her, and I knew I couldn't stay.  I had to walk out of the room with her still upset.  It broke my heart.  I can only imagine what it will be like when she can talk and say "mama don't go".

I'm hoping that this will make her stronger down the line…and she will know that when I leave I always return (or at least Daddy does!).  I'm sure many of you have gone through this, and it's a tough phase for sure.  Believe me, there are days when I'm grateful to be able to drop her off at daycare so that I can have a moment to breath, shower and eat before work!  But there are some days when I just want to hold her and never let go.

One of the reasons she may be getting fussier is teething!  We can feel a little tooth coming in on her bottom gum!  More on that soon… thanks for checking out the New-Mom Blog and I hope to hear from you!  You can comment on our Fox Carolina News Facebook page or here on our site!
