SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg Housing Authority bus crashed Wednesday morning after it was hit by a Camaro when the bus did not stop at a stop sign, police said.

Spartanburg police said the bus was headed east on Marion Avenue when it did not stop at the South Converse Street intersection just after 9 a.m.

A Chevy Camaro ran into the bus and the bus then hit a telephone pole and flipped on its side, police said.

The bus driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries while two passengers in the Camaro fled the scene, police said. Officers said they were found a short time later.

The bus driver was charged with failure to yield to right away while the Camaro's driver was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, according to police.
