GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Shots were reportedly fired on the Swamp Rabbit Trail off of West Blue Ridge Drive in Greenville County on Tuesday, according to Greenville County deputies.

Two men were riding their bikes on the trail together at around 8:30 p.m. when they heard several shots coming from the north side of the trail, striking a raised berm on the side of the trail, deputies said.

Both men told deputies they did not see or hear anyone moving after the shooting but felt that the shooting originated along a clearing at the top of the embankment on the north side of the trail.

Deputies said they are treating this case as an attempted murder. Deputies said investigators and K-9 units were at the scene of the incident looking for evidence on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators ask anyone who may have information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
