Troopers said a Cowpens mom was drunk, speeding and driving under suspension when she lost control of her car and drove into a house.

Erica Fortenberry, 31, crashed into a home on Bennett Dairy Road in Spartanburg County back on Aug. 16, according to troopers.

Fortenberry's two children, ages 4 and 5, were in the car with her, according to investigators. They said neither child was properly restrained. Troopers said Fortenberry was going 75 mph when she barreled into the home.

At a bond hearing for Fortenberry, prosecutors said one child suffered a broken leg the other had cuts on her face. Both children are now out of the hospital and staying with family members.

Fortenberry's mother, Cynthia Ruttle, was at the bond hearing and told FOX Carolina that her daughter has a substance abuse problem.

"She needs help," said Ruttle. "She needs a mental evaluation, she needs to be put in a hospital to get help."

Ruttle said she and Fortenberry had gotten into an argument just before the crash where her daughter assaulted her.

Fortenberry faces charges of felony driving under the influence causing great injury, child endangerment, driving under suspension 2nd offense, uninsured vehicle, expired vehicle tag and failure to return a suspended license.

A judge set Fortenberry's bond at $17,000 and ordered her to be monitored for drugs and alcohol if she is released.
