ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said two animal owners in Anderson County were cited after their horses were found neglected.

Dean Dotson, of Greentree Road, received two citations for the ill treatment of animals, according to Captain Darrell  Hill of the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.

Hill said deputies went to check on Dotson's two horses at a property on Looper Road. He said Dotson called a veterinarian to examine the horses on site while they were there.

Anderson County Animal Control will follow up on the case in 15 days, according to Hill.

And in Iva, deputies said Jamie Cox of Audubon Place was also cited twice for ill treatment of animals. They said Cox surrendered her horses to a local animal rescue.
