Stella had a round of vaccinations yesterday, and needless to say it wasn't a fun experience. She did great for the doctor during his exam, but as soon as the two nurses came in to give her the shots she FREAKED OUT! I'm amazed by how fast they give the shots nowadays. Literally two ladies were holding Stella and simultaneously pushing the needles into her legs. Stella didn't appreciate the fact that they made it fast... all she knew was that it HURT!
Stella let out a cry that I only hear on rare occasions. It was like a hybrid scream-cry, and tears were streaming! I quickly grabbed her up once the nurses were done and she calmed down. I figured the worst was over. And I guess it was, but there were still some unpleasant things ahead.
She slept a good bit that afternoon after her doc's appointment, but then she was fussy through much of the evening. She just wasn't acting like herself. Today she has been very sad and mopey, which in-turn makes me sad and mopey. When my husband picked her up from daycare she was crying, which again...isn't like her.
She seemed better tonight as he put her to bed, and I'm hoping for a happier baby tomorrow morning (or late tonight when I get up for a feeding). Have you been through this with your little ones? It's funny, because her first round of vaccines didn't seem to make her feel as bad as this second round.
On a side note, we found out at her appointment that she is in the 96th percentile for length! My husband loves basketball, so it sounds like he might have a tall girl to shoot the hoops with :).
Lastly, the doctor said that we need to stop swaddling her! I'm not sure how we are going to accomplish this, since she only sleeps well when she is swaddled! If you have gone through this transition, please send me a facebook message or comment on how you've weaned your little one off the swaddle. For now, she just loves being wrapped up like a little burrito (or a big burrito I guess haha!).
