GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A couple walking in the West End of downtown Greenville on Friday night were robbed at gunpoint, according to police.

Greenville police Lt. Jason Rampey said the couple, in their 20s, were walking along University Street off of Augusta Street when two men came up from behind, robbing them of their phones and wallets just before 11:30 p.m.

Rampey said the men ran away towards Church Street and the couple ran to a nearby business for help.

Police said they found one of the victim's phones dropped along the ground nearby.

The robbers were described as between 25 and 30 years old, Rampey said.

He said one of the suspects was a black male, 5'6" to 5'8" tall, athletic/slender build, was wearing blue jeans, a gray or green jacket, had a gap between his front teeth and was armed with a handgun.

The other robber was 5'8" to 5'10" tall, medium to heavy build, and was wearing a button down white plaid shirt with jeans, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME or Greenville police at 864-271-GCPD.
