SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

For the second day in a row, police are investigating a possible shootout in the city, only this time someone was injured.

Police tell CBS 3 that a man was shot twice around 3 a.m. Sunday, in the area of State Street and Colonial Avenue.

They said they were first made aware of the shooting when the victim was brought to Mercy Medical Center.

He was then transferred to Baystate Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened right across the street from Duck's Place, which was the site of a fatal shooting last month.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that a total of eight rounds were found at this morning's shooting scene, but from two different caliber weapons.

Police said that indicates a possible shootout.

Early Saturday morning, police responded to reports of a shootout in the city's Forest Park section.

They said 12 shots were fired, but it appeared no one was injured in that incident.
