Investigators with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office said a body found in Gray Court is not that of a 75-year-old missing Laurens County woman.
If you drive through a four-way stop at Highway 252 and Neely Ferry Road in Laurens County, there's a poster of Dorothy Madden. It's a place where drivers see Madden's face, but no one knows where she is.
"We're putting posters up everywhere and passing out fliers at every large gathering we can get to," Ray Sanderson, Madden's son-in-law, said. "It's a never-ending nightmare for my wife - you know, one she can't wake up from."
Madden, known as "Dot" by family and friends, disappeared back in July. The 75-year-old has Alzheimer's disease.
"Just please let us know where she's at," Sanderson said.
To help with the search, family members created the Dot Madden website. The site is loaded with information about her family and her background, in case someone sees her, so they know what questions to ask.
"This is the first one we've had where it's a 'I don't know,'" Lt. Jaworski Shelton, an investigator with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, said.
"With the sheriff's office, we've sent out everything to national, to law enforcement agencies and hospitals," Shelton said.
He said this year, they've had a reported missing persons cases and they solved all of them except the Madden case.
"You've checked all the friends, checked all the family and all those locations, and you run into a dead end of where a missing person may be," Shelton said.
And so he and Madden's family want drivers to stop and take a closer look while around town.
Investigators said Madden was last seen in the Pony Trail area of Hickory Tavern back in July. If you have any information, call the Laurens County Sheriff's Office tip line at 68-CRIME.
