TOWNVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies are working to solve two armed robberies at two Townville stores in less than a week and they said they think the same man is behind the crimes.

On Friday, a man entered the Sunoco on Highway 24 at 5 a.m., showed a gun and demanded money, Capt. Garland Major with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said.

The clerk gave him money and he fled in a gray car towards Townville, Garland said. He said the man was a dark shirt, blue jeans and sunglasses.

Then at 9 p.m. Monday, a man held up the Townville Shell on Highway 24, deputies said.

Garland said the man acted like he was going to buy something, then showed a gun and demanded money. He said the robber also fled in a light colored or gray vehicle towards Townville.

Investigators said they believe it is the same man who held up the stores because in both robberies, he fled toward Oconee County. Garland said the man was described as 6' tall, weighed about 180 pounds, and had a black gun.

Deputies said the man in the video is a person of interest in the case of the first robbery. The vehicle the suspect was believed to be driving was also captured on surveillance, deputies said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Anderson County Sheriff's Office at 864-260-4400 or Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
