CLINTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A freight train traveling through Clinton collided with a tractor-trailer Thursday morning.

Traffic was blocked at the intersection of U.S. 76 at Springdale Road because the train was still stopped at the railroad crossing as of 10:30 a.m.

A spokesperson for CSX said the train was headed to Hamlet, NC, from Greenwood when the accident happened about 7:30 a.m.

Clinton police are investigating the wreck and said no one was injured, but officials have not yet released how the accident happened.

The train was carrying three locomotives and 58 cars of mixed freight, the spokesperson said. He said they hope to have trains moving through the area again by Thursday afternoon.

FOX Carolina crews at the scene said the railroad crossing arm is also broken.

Drivers in the area should seek an alternate route if trying to cross the railroad tracks.
