EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville County deputy is under investigation after a woman from Liberty said he was driving erratically and inappropriately used his blue lights.

Darlene Nix said she was driving down Highway 93 towards Easley on Tuesday afternoon when a blue Chevy Impala cut her off, hit his brakes, then activated blue lights in his back window.

Fearing the driver that cut her off was a cop impersonator, Nix called 911 dispatchers in Pickens County who informed her that they did not have any unmarked cars matching that description.

As Nix and the Impala approached Easley, 911 recordings obtained from Easley police show she was instructed to stay behind the Impala:

Nix: Do you want me to stay behind him

Operator: Yes ma'am if you can

Nix: OK

The recordings show as Easley police closed in on Nix the Impala again activated its lights.

Nix: He's gonna run from him. He's turning on his blue lights on.

Easley police said when they pulled the Impala over they realized that it was actually an unmarked Greenville County deputy's car. Police said Nix requested the officer's information so she could file a complaint.

Drew Pinciaro with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said Nix filed the complaint shortly after the incident.

"As of right now its an internal investigation," said Pinciaro. "At the conclusion of the investigation if disciplinary action needs to be taken it will be."

Pinciaro said the deputy involved in this incident is still on the job pending the outcome of the investigation.
