GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Sippin' Safari, an annual fundraiser for the Greenville Zoo, has been canceled this year.

A spokesman for the zoo said they are going to seek sponsorship to revamp the event in 2014.

"We are very thankful for the participation and generosity of the Greenville community as they helped create a much anticipated annual fundraising event,"said Friends of the Zoo Board Chairman Elizabeth Geer.

"Sippin' Safari is a signature event that we anticipate will bring the Greenville Zoo continued success in the future," Geer said.

The next Sippin' Safari is scheduled for Sept. 5, 2014.

Tickets had not yet gone on sale for the event before it was canceled, according to Jeff Bullock, director of the Greenville Zoo.
