GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a suspect who was wanted after two incidents where people were robbed at gunpoint and kidnapped has died after a shootout with deputies and troopers, deputies said.

The first incident happened in Greenville County on Thursday morning when the victim let his dogs outside and the dogs began barking at his pickup truck where the suspect was lying in the bed, deputies said.

The suspect, Casey Nichols Smith, 34, then sat up in the bed of the truck and pointed a gun at the victim, according to deputies.

Deputies said Smith demanded money from the victim and then made the victim drive him to a gas station in Anderson County. Smith then told the man to get out of the car and he sped off, they said.

Anderson County deputies said Smith is wanted for a similar incident that happened to a taxi driver at the Home Depot on Clemson Boulevard on Wednesday.

The taxi driver had a gun pulled on him and was robbed by Smith, according to deputies. Deputies said Smith then forced the taxi driver to drive him to the Highway 247 area of Greenville County.

Smith had been charged with armed robbery, carjacking, kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony and possession of weapon during a violent crime, according to Deputy Drew Pinciaro of Greenville County.

Anderson deputies said Smith was also believed to be involved in two armed robberies on Highway 24 in Townville earlier this week.

Deputies responded to a third incident involving Smith on Sunday that turned deadly when Smith fired at officials, according to Lt. Tony Tilley of the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.
