A 1-year-old girl is recovering from broken bones and cuts on her face after police said a rottweiler bit her.
Greenwood police said they were called to Trakas Avenue on Friday about 8:30 p.m. after the dog's owner reported the attack.
The dog's owner said her German rottweiler had run outside when several kids stopped by, like they often do, and began playing with the kids, according to the police report.
The child was in a stroller and the dog began to lick her face, but her uncle tried to pull her away, police said. That's when the dog bit the child once on the face and forehead, according to the report.
The dog was taken to the animal shelter where it will remain for about 10 business days, police said. They said the dog's owner was issued a ticket for dogs running at large and the child was taken to the hospital.
The child has several broken bones and injuries to her face, according to police.
The incident remains under investigation.
