Police: 2 steal $12K worth of jewelry from Westgate Mall

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police are looking for information after two men went into a jewelry store at Westgate Mall and stole more than $12,000 of jewelry, according to Spartanburg police.

The victim told police two men entered East Coast Jewelry on Tuesday, reached behind the counter and opened the glass case to take the jewelry while an employee was in his office.

The men hid several items in their pockets and fled, according to police. Police said they stole several gold and silver crosses, diamond bracelets and gold chains.

The incident was caught on surveillance cameras.

Police said the men were seen leaving the scene in a dark gray rental Chrysler 200 LX with North Carolina license plates.

Police said the investigation into the theft is ongoing.
