Wofford looks to continue success over The Citadel

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -

Wofford coach Mike Ayers knows how important Saturday's game is for The Citadel since the Bulldogs have lost 14 straight games to his Terriers.

Ayers says he thinks The Citadel's players and fans circled this game on their calendars a long time ago.

The fallout from the turmoil in Southern Conference membership makes the game even more important in deciding who gets the league's Football Championship Series playoff berth since Georgia Southern and Appalachian State are not eligible for this year's title.

In other games involving South Carolina's FCS teams Saturday, Furman is at Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern hosts Shorter, Presbyterian hosts Brevard, and South Carolina State heads to Clemson.
