Police: Alleged impaired driver strikes moped, one dead

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A woman has been charged with Driving While Impaired, following a North Carolina crash that killed one person, according to Asheville Police.

According to the Asheville Police Department, officers responded to a crash on U.S. 25 near Rock Hill Road Saturday at about 8:37 p.m.

Police said a red 1993 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Kimberly Folston, 45, of Asheville was headed southbound on U.S. 25 when it crossed the center lane and proceeded into the northbound lanes.

Police said the vehicle struck a moped traveling in the northbound travel lane by Sierra Allen, 27, of Arden.

Authorities said Allen died at the scene.

Asheville police said they charged Folston with Driving While Impaired. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
