Murray earns weekly honors, shakes off critics

Posted: Updated:

Bulldog QB Aaron Murray has been named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week award following his 4 TD, 309 yard performance against the No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks.

Coming into the game, many doubted Murray's big-game ability. He was 1-10 vs. Top 10 team before the winning 41-30.

"It's a win versus a great team, an SEC win," Murray said. "I'm not listening to any other negativity. We win and lose as a team."

Murray was named by SEC coaches as the preseason 1st team quarterback. His own coach, Mark Richt is relying on him for more performances like Saturday for the remainder of the season.

"Murray played well, which was great and I'm proud of him," Richt said. "We want to continue to play that way and I hope he continues to make play like he did today (Saturday)."

Murray's 85-yard touchdown pass to Mitchell County's Justin Scott-Wesley helped seal the game.
