Deputies: Moonshine still busted in Polk Co.

TRYON, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A man has been charged after deputies said he was running a liquor still on his property.

Polk County deputies said they got tip that a man had a liquor still on his property for making moonshine. When they went to the property they found the still, non-paid tax liquor and marijuana plants, deputies said. Deputies said the property was occupied by Joshua Ruff, 25.

Ruff was charged with felony manufacturing marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance, misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, manufacturing of non-tax paid liquor and possession of non-tax paid liquor, according to Polk County deputies.

Ruff was released on $5,000 bond, according to deputies.

Deputies said the still along with the non-paid tax liquor, and marijuana plants was confiscated and will be destroyed at the disposition of the courts involving the matter.
