SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man has been charged after a Hot Spot convenience store and gas station was robbed on Friday morning, according to Spartanburg County deputies.

Deputies said Ronnie Cantrell Jr., 30, went into the store and pretended to buy an alcoholic beverage and then robbed the store. The clerk said he checked the suspect's ID before Cantrell pulled a gun.

The suspect then demanded all the money from the drawer and fled the scene, according to the deputy's report.

When deputies arrived the clerk looked into the store's records and was able to retrieve the suspect's date of birth. Deputies then ran the date of birth through their system and only one man came up with it and they noticed he lived only a short distance from the Hot Spot, they said.

Cantrell is being held on $10,000 bond.
