GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

School district officials said Carolina High School was evacuated Friday after a student set fire to toilet paper in a restroom.

Greenville County School spokesman Oby Lyles said the student started the fire in the boys' restroom, causing the fire alarm and sprinkler system to go off.

Parker Fire District firefighters responded and students were evacuated outside for about an hour, Lyles said.

Parker Assistant Fire Chief Brad Johnson said the student held the flaming paper under the sprinkler head and they used surveillance to identify the student.

Lyles said the student faces criminal charges and will be recommended for expulsion.

Johnson said no one was injured but there was a lot of water on the floors that had to be cleaned up.
