Greenville police announced Sunday that they had found a car belonging to a missing Greenville woman but had no other updates immediately available.
Police said they picked up Misty Johnson's car after it was found in the city limits of Greenville on Saturday but would not say where the car was found.
Meanwhile, a flier depicting Johnson and her vehicle was posted on the Missing Person Alert Organization's website Sunday morning, escalating the search for her to a national scale.
Greenville police initially asked for the public's help in locating Johnson on Saturday.
Officers said she was last seen on Thursday morning leaving Junior's sports bar on Gladys Drive by herself.
Johnson's best friend, Ashley Ryland, said she became worried when Johnson stopped answering text messages.
"It was immediate concern and 'what could have happened,'" said Ryland. "It's not like her not to talk with her friends."
Ryland, who works with Johnson, said she has not contacted work, friends or family since her disappearance. She said friends have flooded social media with Johnson's picture and even searched for her on foot.
A tearful Ryland told FOX Carolina she would not stop her efforts until her friend is found.
"She is my best friend. She's a great person. She makes every situation better and now she's in this situation. And there's nothing we can do," said Ryland.
Anyone with information on Johnson's whereabouts is asked to call Greenville police at 864-271-5333.
