HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials in North Carolina have called off a Silver Alert for an endangered, missing 72-year-old Henderson County man.

According to Henderson County deputies, Francis Hunnicutt was last seen at his home on Greenbriar Avenue in Flat Rock wearing blue jeans, a gold shirt and brown penny loafers.

Major Frank Stout with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office said Hunnicutt's wife called deputies when he walked away from their home about 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies said Hunnicutt was believed to be suffering from dementia or another cognitive impairment, so they ask anyone to call law enforcement if they see him.

Stout said deputies were out searching for Hunnicutt and found him a few miles from his house. He said Hunnicutt was a little scuffed up from some briars and he would be checked out.
