Report: Suspect hits woman, stabs husband

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg man has been charged after police responded to a call of a stabbing on Monday, according to a report from the Spartanburg Police.

Matthew Gresham, 33, was charged with aggravated assault and battery in connection to an incident that happened at about 7 p.m., according to Spartanburg Police.

Witnesses said Gresham arrived at a house smelling of alcohol and Gresham's shorts were covered in blood, the report said.

The witness also said Gresham was under the influence of an unknown substance, according to the reports.

According to the police report, witnesses said Gresham hit a woman at the house and then a fight with her husband ensued. During the fight, Gresham stabbed the man with an unknown object, according to the police report.

A victim said Gresham was staying with them over the weekend but was supposed to be out by the afternoon.                          

Police said the victims were brought to the hospital for treatment.
