GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they arrested a 12-year-old juvenile in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Taylors boy more than one week ago.

Deputies said the juvenile was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Trayvon Dodd on Sept 11. Dodd was found dead in the backyard of a home on Woodleigh Drive, deputies said.

Since the shooting, deputies had not released any other details about their investigation until Friday.

The coroner ruled Dodd's death a homicide.

Dodd was a student at Northwood Middle School.

In a release about the incident the sheriff's office said:

"South Carolina law defines involuntary manslaughter as "criminal negligence" the reckless disregard of the safety of others. Evidence and information obtained through the course of the investigation has revealed that the 12-year-old was criminally negligent, however at this time there is no evidence of malice."
