Coroner: Man on vacation killed in motorcycle crash in Anderson

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a fatal collision Friday night in Anderson County.

Troopers said a person on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with an SUV on Highway 187 at Harbin Drive around 8:30 p.m.

The coroner said the man on the motorcycle was taken to the hospital, but died in the emergency room at 9:20 p.m. from chest trauma.

The man was identified as Daniel Major, 65, of Anderson, according to the coroner.

Troopers said the victim was thrown from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet.

The coroner said Major had been camping in the mountains and was either returning from his trip or headed to another camping location when he crashed with the other vehicle.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
