ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in Buncombe County said they are investigating a series of shootings that ended when the suspect took her own life.

Natalie Bailey with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said deputies received a call about shots being fired into a home in the Estelle Park community just before 10 p.m. Friday.

After firing shots at people in the house, Bailey said the suspect jumped into a car and drove to the Montford community in Asheville.

Bailey said deputies received another call from that community at 11:13 p.m., with the caller claiming the same suspect had fired shots into another home.

The suspect called dispatchers as she drove back to the Estelle Park community and barricaded herself in a home, Bailey said.

Deputies evacuated surrounding homes and called crisis negotiators to the scene when the situation escalated into an armed standoff, Bailey said.

Bailey said the situation ended when the suspect took her own life.

No one else was hurt.

Bailey said the investigation is ongoing.
