A recent Westfield State University graduate was killed after being struck by a car in Genoa, OH.

The university said 21-year-old Emilee Gagnon was a graduate of the class of 2013.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Gagnon was struck and killed in northwest Ohio while riding across the country to raise money to benefit people with multiple sclerosis.

Gagnon is from Holliston, MA, and graduated with a degree in art.

In a statement issued to CBS 3, Westfield State's art department chair, Professor Jamie Wainright, said, "Emilee was literally a walking piece of artwork herself. She wore vibrant, beautiful clothes and did a lot of creative, colorful things with her hair. She was a wonderful, wonderful student who provided a lot of positive energy, joy and talent to the art department. She will be missed."

The school also released a statement reading, "Heartfelt sympathies from all of us at Westfield State University are with her family and many friends whose lives she touched so meaningfully."
