GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville police said a woman's claim that two men tried to carjack her Tuesday night turned out to be false.

Police said they were called to the report of robbery and attempted carjacking along Wade Hampton Blvd. where the victim said she was stopped at a stop sign when two people approached her car and demanded she get out.

That's when she put the car in reverse and backed up into some trees, police said.

Police said they tried looking for the alleged suspects but then learned that the carjacking attempt did not happen.

The woman, 47-year-old Angela McLeskey, was arrested and charged with false reporting of a crime.
