Stella is now 5.5 months old, and she is getting more and more fun to be around every day! We really enjoyed taking her apple picking (see picture). She actually reached for the apples, played with the twigs and leaves, and really soaked up the fresh air and sunshine! Even in the bustling store where we bought the apples she seemed to enjoy watching all of the people. It's a very exciting thing to see her go from a fairly oblivious infant to an engaged and excited baby!
That brings me to my chattable topic for this week... growing up too fast. Where did we come up with that cliche? I can tell you it's cliche for a reason. I truly understand what so many of you meant when you said to treasure the moments while she is this young. She is making strides and growing like crazy, which makes me feel almost panicked at times! I worry about the next step, like introducing solids (which will be the subject of an upcoming post!), getting her to sleep through the night, weaning her, taking her to kindergarten, etc! OK, yeah I am getting a little ahead of myself, but I tell ya.... Kindergarten will be here before I know it! I guess I just hate to let go of the phase we have been in. We have such special moments together. Despite the lack of sleep, I just want to hit pause and keep her at this age! I never thought I'd feel this way, and I have to realize that life always pushes onward. It will be so exciting to see her first steps, first words, and first A+ report card (here's hoping at least). I want the best for her, and need to push aside my selfishness and just brace myself for the fun, scary, busy, exhausting, and beautiful times ahead!
At what point did you want to hit the pause button with your kids? What was your favorite age/stage? Thanks, as always, for all of your emails, comments and advice!
