ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Anderson man died a day after a chase and crash in Anderson County on Tuesday night, according to the coroner.

The Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist was driving along Michelin Boulevard about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when a trooper tried to pull him over.

The motorcyclist fled and the trooper lost sight of him and called off the chase, according to Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne with the Highway Patrol.

A short time later the trooper came upon a crash that involved the motorcycle, Rhyne said.

Coroner Greg Shore identified the motorcyclist as William Jones, 33, died Wednesday night at the hospital.
