GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officers spent the morning rounding up dozens of pigs after a tractor-trailer overturned in Greenwood County.

The southbound lanes of Highway 25 were blocked after the truck flipped about 2 a.m. between Highways 225 and 178 East.

About 175-200 hogs went running wild, witnesses at the scene said. Some could be seen sitting along the side of the roadway, snacking on the grass.

Officials said the driver will be OK, and animal control officers were brought in to help gather the pigs. Some officers even rode horses to help corral the pigs.

FOX Carolina's crew at the scene said by about 6:30 a.m., they had rounded up most of the pigs onto two trailers but were still working to round up some of the more elusive hogs in the woods.

A witness said the truck was heading to the Carolina Pride plant in Greenwood, and some of the pigs were killed in the accident. Highway Patrol officials charged the driver with driving too fast for conditions after they say she veered into the median and hit a disabled vehicle parked there, causing the truck to tip over.

The truck was righted and towed away by 8 a.m., leaving a little bit of dirt and debris left to clean up.
