GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A few students and parents were involved in a three-car crash in front of Gaffney High School Friday morning, according to firefighters.

Capt. Wayne Brown with the Gaffney Fire Department said the crash involved three cars, including one that was knocked on its side.

One car contained a Gaffney High sophomore and his grandmother, another was driven by a junior of the school, and the third contained a parent and a sixth-grader, according to Cherokee County school superintendent Dr. Quincy Moore.

Moore said passengers in two of the vehicles had minor injuries and they were taken to the hospital, treated, and released with no major injuries.

Brown said firefighters had to remove two people from inside the car that ended up on its side.

One of the drivers misread instructions from a crossing guard and T-boned a van in the intersection, according to Moore. The initial crash caused the van to spin around and topple over a third car, Moore said.
