SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Simpsonville man was rushed to the hospital Friday after his SUV rolled over him and dragged him across the street.

Family members say 60-year-old Danny Leone was underneath his Jeep, checking out the repairs a mechanic had just finished, when the car began to roll backwards. He tried to get into the vehicle to stop it, but it got hold of him and dragged him across the street.

His daughter said his six-year-old grandson saw the whole incident.

"My six-year-old came running in the house and started yelling that the car had run over Grandpa," recounted Danielle Leone. "So, we came out the door and noticed that the Jeep had hit the house across the street from us and my dad was just laying here in the mud."

The car knocked over a satellite dish in the neighbor's yard and struck the side of the house, causing damage. Leone's wife was visibly shaken, but was talking to her husband on the phone at the hospital when FOX Carolina arrived at the scene.

Leone was alert and talking when his wife called him. His leg was injured, but he is expected to recover.
