GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said they arrested a teen who is accused of driving drunk in a crash that killed a pregnant woman in Greenwood County on Friday night.

Greenwood County Coroner Sonny Cox has identified the victim as Alisha Boyter, 21, of Greenwood. Boyter was pronounced dead at the scene and ruled her manner of death as homicide, according to Cox.

Pastor Phil Thrailkill of the Main Street United Methodist Church said Boyter worked for the church's Mud Pies child care center. He said employees met Saturday afternoon to grieve and pray together over the loss of Boyter.

Thrailkill said Boyter was pregnant with her first child at the time of the crash.

He said the church family has been devastated to learn about the passing of Boyter and her unborn child.

"The tragedy of this thing is you've not just lost a young woman, you've lost a child. They already knew the gender and gave him a name," said Thrailkill.

Cox was unable to confirm Boyter was pregnant during his initial investigation. He said a pathologist would determine that during an autopsy.

The crash happened around 11:40 p.m. on Highway 225 inside Greenwood city limits, troopers said.

A teen driving a 1996 Honda collided with a 2006 Chevy, troopers said. Troopers did not release the driver's name but said he was arrested in connection with the crash.

The driver of the Chevy was taken to the hospital, and a passenger in the car died from injuries sustained in the accident, troopers said.

Troopers said two other juveniles and an adult were riding with the teen driver.

The adult was taken to the hospital with injuries.

Greenwood County Detention Center officials identified the suspect as 17-year-old Darius Andrews and said he was charged with two counts of felony driving under the influence.

"Bad decisions of young people, drugs and alcohol and fast driving have basically murdered two of our citizens that were so vulnerable," said Thrailkill.

No other details about the crash have been released.
