SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Walkers participated in the first of four Walks to End Alzheimer's across the Upstate on Saturday.

The event raises money for the Alzheimer's Association. The non-profit organization says it aims to eliminate Alzheimer's disease by advancing research, providing care for patients and families, and promoting brain health awareness and education.

The 2.3 mile walk was held on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg.

Three other Walks to End Alzheimer's are scheduled to place in coming weeks.

The Anderson Walk to End Alzheimer's will be held on October 5, at the Anderson Civic Center. Check-in starts at 9 a.m.

The Greenwood area walk will be held on October 12 in downtown Greenwood, and will start by the fountain. Check in begins at 9 a.m.

The Greenville area walk will take place on October 19th, beginning at County Square. Check-in for that walk starts at 8:15 a.m.
