While students have been in the building for a little while now, the town held the official dedication of the new Longmeadow High School on Saturday afternoon.
Hundreds were on hand throughout the day for tours. The official ceremony took place in front of the school's main entrance.
The first section of the $78 million project opened in February of this year. The entire building has been open since the start of the current school year.
Officials said Saturday was a day to say thank you the residents of the town.
"At the end of the day, this is really their building," said Michael Clark, chairman of the school committee. "Today is our opportunity to say thank you and this is what your investment looks like and we're not going to let you down. So, we invited the entire community and 700 people have come through here already."
During the festivities, many people mentioned the technology in the new high school, which included everything from smart boards in classrooms that can connect with smartphones, to a state of the art auditorium.
