Greenville could be seeing penny sales tax to fix roads

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Council will be discussing a plan that could be adding another penny to your purchases.

On Tuesday the council will be discussing the idea of creating a six-person committee that would be given the power to choose road work projects and put them on the ballot.

If voters decide to approve a road project, a penny tax will be added. If voters decide against a project, it would not go forward and no additional penny tax would be added.

The plan will be discussed on Oct. 1 at the Greenville County Council work session.

FOX Carolina will be attending the meeting. Stay with us for updates.
