Google Glass isn't available to the public yet, but Jennifer McKelvey of Greenville was one of 2,000 people chosen to be a beta tester for Glass.

Being a big tech lover, she said this is right up her alley.

"It enhances capturing moments of my kid's childhood that I may not get with my phone. My kids can see from my point of view what I see," said McKelvey.

McKelvey used her children to help get selected to be a beta tester. Her pitch was "Google Glass through a mom's eyes."

It worked, and now McKelvey said she spends a lot of time capturing everything happening in her life.

"This is instant. I just say, 'OK Glass, take a picture,' and I have a memory right there. It stores on my Google account, and it's there forever," said McKelvey.

Google Glass displays a screen that you can see with your right eye. It operates by voice command. You can make a phone call, text, get breaking news and weather updates plus Facebook and Twitter.

Google Glass will even talk while navigating you to your next destination. And it's all hands free.

For McKelvey, she said the biggest appeal is the instant camera and video capabilities.

"Every time I turn my head, of course, Glass turns, and you see it from a first-person point of view," she said. "I have many videos and pictures that are priceless that I would never have gotten if I didn't have Google Glass."

McKelvey said it's gotten her a lot of attention.
