BEREA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

After 42 years of serving customers, the Apollo King Restaurant in Berea is closing its doors.

The restaurant on Cedar Lane Road will stay open until Oct. 26, according to the owner's daughter.

The owners posted on their Facebook page this message to their customers: "It has been an honor for our family to serve you and to get to know both you and your families all these years. We wish each and every one of you health and happiness."

Dozens of customers under the post offered their thanks and well-wishes for years of good food. Many said they loved the burgers, club sandwiches, steak fingers and onion rings.

Persaphone Francoskias said she doesn't want to close the restaurant, but she needs to in order to take care of her daughter, whose health is failing, and her grandson.

She said, "I want to thank them for their support over the years, and we wish them health and happiness. Health comes first, and family comes first. I'm going to miss you all."

Francoskias also said she is looking for a buyer and that some people have already expressed interest in taking over.

Francoskias told FOX Carolina that the restaurant was originally going to close on Oct. 5 but are extending that date for a couple more weeks.
