GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A traffic stop in Greenwood led to a car and foot chase, according to police.

Police said the chase started when they were attempting to stop a vehicle because of a drug deal that had just occurred at about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Donald Christopher Dow, 46, Greenwood, led police on a short chase after he did not stop when police turned on their lights, according to police.

Police said they were advised to call off the pursuit by a superior and then only three seconds later they noticed the car between a light post and a fence. Police said they then saw Dow running from the vehicle.

Dow ran through the backyards of houses on Mill Ave. and Merriman Ave, jumping fences and was eventually taken into custody, Greenwood police said.

Police said Dow is charged with failure to stop for blue lights, failure to stop on command and resisting arrest.

Police said the amount of damage to the fence was estimated at $1,000.
