High pressure is set up just to our north, continually bringing sunshine and just a few passing mountain clouds through the day. Highs today reach the upper 70s in Western NC, and low 80s in the Upstate. The high remains in control through Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, bringing similar temperatures and partly cloudy skies to our region.
Sunday is when some changes begin. The high moves away as a cold front approaches, and as usual that means we're expecting to see some scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm Sunday and Monday. Both days will have temperatures cooling off into the 70s. What we're watching closely is the possibility of the cold front picking up some gulf moisture, and potentially bringing us pockets of very heavy rainfall. Most likely, the worst of the rain will hold off until Monday. Stick with us on air and online, we'll continue detailing the latest computer model trends.
