Business back opened near Springfield Plaza after gas leak

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Burger King, Liberty Pizza and Princess Nails near the Springfield Plaza are now back opened after being evacuated because of a gas leak early Wednesday.

According to the aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, Dennis Ledger the gas leak happened after a contractor hit a 4-inch main. Ledger said gas is venting into the air, and a gas company crew has been called in.

The main part of the plaza was not affected by the leak and remained open.
