Lingering storms, then some clearing

Posted: Updated:

Overnight storms and heavy rain have continue to cause issues this morning, with reports of flooded roads, trees down, and power outages throughout portions of the Upstate.  On & off heavy rain is still possible through the 9am hour, but then we'll notice a good deal of drier air setting in behind the cold front.  Once the front pushes through, slow clearing will begin.  Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies for the remainder of the day, with just a slim chance for a passing shower later this afternoon.  Highs should reach the upper 60s to middle 70s.

Though the front was originally expected to push off the east coast and leave us with gorgeous, crisp, fall weather for the remainder of the week, the latest computer models are showing signs of change.  A low pressure system associated with this cold front is expected to linger right around the SC/NC coastline, bringing us partly cloudy skies and a lingering chance for passing showers Tuesday and Wednesday.  Highs will be a bit cooler in the middle 60s to low 70s.  The system should fully move away Thursday, finally bringing us the calm, clear, fall weather we've been looking forward to, and we're looking to stay dry through the weekend.
