DUNCAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An elderly Tennessee woman who was last seen in the Upstate was found safe in Kentucky, according to deputies.

Spartanburg County deputies said they received word that Ruth Poole, 80, was found in Pikeville, KY, Tuesday night.

She was last seen at her friend's home on East Main Street in Duncan on Monday when she left to run to a nearby store, but she never returned. She was in town visiting friends, deputies said.

Pikeville police responded to a minor wreck Tuesday, and when they looked up Poole in the national system, they found her missing persons report, deputies said.

Deputies said they were told Poole is in good health and arrangements have been made to reunite her with her family.

Poole left her mobile phone in a charger at her friend's residence and she has started showing the early stages of dementia, according to deputies.

Pikeville is about 250 miles north of Duncan and nearly 315 miles northeast of Poole's home in Signal Mountain, TN. It is not clear how Poole ended up in Pikeville.

Pikeville police said she was a little disoriented after the single-car crash, but her family was en route to pick her up.
